Fertilizer Availability and Affordability: Implications for agricultural productivity and food security

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is hosting an online policy seminar discussing fertilizer availability and affordability. The invasion of Ukraine has driven up already high global agricultural commodity prices, and fertilizer prices have also reached all-time highs, casting a serious shadow on future harvests, and thus adding to concerns about global food security. Speakers will address the implications of increased prices on fertilizer demand, usage and productivity, the viability of government fertilizer subsidies, and soil health. This is the third event in an IFPRI seminar series on Food and Fertilizer Price Trends: Impacts on global food security.

Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in Emergencies: CARE's Pilot in Taiz, Yemen

CARE, through the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) in Emergencies pilots, is committed to filling the knowledge gap and building tools and approaches that extend financial inclusion support to those in the most difficult circumstances. This webinar will present the preliminary findings from CARE's VSLAs in Emergencies pilot in Taiz, Yemen, where CARE sought to increase the capacities of 300 conflict-affected households to better manage financial resources and cope with external shocks to improve economic wellbeing.
