Leveraging the Potential of Safety Nets to Prevent Gender-Based Violence

This panel will discuss emerging practices on how to leverage safety nets to prevent gender-based violence (GBV). The session will include highlights from Safety First – a new World Bank operational toolkit that provides detailed design and implementation guidance to maximize the preventive effect of safety nets. The panel will also feature policy-makers and practitioners from Mozambique and Sierra Leone, who will share recent practices on mitigating, responding to, and reducing the risks of gender-based violence through their social protection work. The session will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation in French and Portuguese.
