UN-Habitat’s Contribution to the Humanitarian Development-Peace Nexus

The period between 2015 and 2017 saw the establishment of significant global policies aimed at integrating humanitarian, development, and peace stabilization efforts. These initiatives address the persistent challenges in aligning humanitarian and development responses, such as differing planning cycles and unclear roles. "A New Way of Working" (NWoW), announced by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, aims to bridge these gaps by promoting closer collaboration from the onset of crises, supporting affected communities, and preventing further instability. This approach, emphasized in the 2016 Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review and the UN's Reform Agenda, seeks to implement a comprehensive, system-wide response to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
