The TOPS program sponsored a panel discussion drawing upon lessons learned by international NGOs working with communities to build resilience to drought and other shocks. Presentations included: 

  • From Conflict to Coping: Evidence from Southern Ethiopia on the contributions of peacebuilding to drought resilience among pastoralist groups by Jon Kurtz, Mercy Corps
  • The Role of Diversification in Improving Resilience by Kristi Ladd, ACDI/VOCA
  • If it's a Safety Net, is it Resilient? by Mara Russell, Land O'Lakes 

Brief presentations were followed by Q&A and a round-table discussion on how best to set and measure resilience targets.
