In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the Fundamental Principles, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement conducted a comprehensive consultation to evaluate their ongoing relevance and application in contemporary humanitarian contexts. This report highlights the results, affirming the continued importance of these Principles. It is designed for National Societies, states, and humanitarian actors to guide the effective implementation of humanitarian assistance. Key recommendations include establishing a clear legal basis for operational independence, fostering continuous dialogue with authorities and the public, and adapting the Principles to local contexts through training and practice. The report emphasizes that effective humanitarian action relies on the collaborative effort of all Movement components and supportive states.
