Date:
Time:
11:00am - 12:00pm ET
Location:
Online
Organizer:
Save the Children

This webinar aims to reflect on the links between disaster risk management and adaptation to climate change, based on the Peruvian experience with a climate forecasting tool developed by Save the Children and the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Peru (SENAMHI). The Agroclimatic Information System (SIA) allows climate forecasts to be obtained about rainfall and droughts and the impact they would have on several types of essential crops at the national level. This forecasting tool facilitates adaptation to drought in a variety of geographic areas, including mountains, jungles, and coastal areas.

Join to:

  • Analyze the links between climate change adaptation and disaster risk management, with a particular focus on structural risks and residual risks.
  • Share best practices related to forecasting in diverse communities of Peru.
  • Explore the impact of anticipatory actions in the face of droughts as mechanisms for community resilience.

The panel will include representatives from Save the Children, the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Peru (SENAMHI), Start Fund, and experts in disaster risk management.
