The Humanitarian Assistance Evidence Cycle (HAEC) Activity is excited to announce a half-day Impact Evaluation in Humanitarian Contexts forum designed to enhance the understanding and application of impact evaluations in humanitarian contexts. During the forum, HAEC will share effective impact evaluation use cases with USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA Implementing Partner (IP) staff and their USAID/BHA counterparts. In addition, the forum will to provide a comprehensive overview of impact evaluations, explore various methodological approaches, and present relevant real-world examples to improve food security programming.

HAEC is offering two opportunities to attend the forum on Tuesday, September 10th. Participants may register for either the 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET session or the 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM ET session. The only prerequisite for attendance is that the participant or their organization supports a BHA-funded humanitarian activity. HAEC encourages organizations to send multiple representatives, ideally from different teams within the organization. Due to limited space, HAEC requests that registrants indicate if they are able to attend the alternate session if their preferred time slot is full, to allow for maximum participation.

Forum Objectives

  1. Establish an understanding of how impact evaluations can help improve the effectiveness of humanitarian programming.
  2. Introduce the methodological designs employed in impact evaluations and the types of operational focused questions that can be answered through impact evaluations.
  3. Present pertinent and relevant use cases that demonstrate the practical applications and benefits of impact evaluations with a focus on the utilization of IE results from HAEC-funded studies.
