Application Lab for Emergency Implementers
The Application Lab is a five-week program for field-based, emergency implementers to brainstorm on participant targeting during COVID-19
What is the Application Lab?
The Application Lab convened a cohort of 15-20 field-based, emergency food security implementers who delved into the shifting landscape of project participant targeting as a result of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the period of five weeks, cohort members participated in three online workshops, completed three homework sets, and presented their work in the final showcase.

Participation is completely remote. At the end of the Lab, every member of the cohort will either have applied or plan to apply an adaptation to their project participant targeting approach, as well as form bonds with fellow emergency implementers across regions and contexts.
What is the time commitment?
Cohort members should prepare to commit approximately three hours each over the five-week program, running from November 10 through December 15, 2020:
Who should apply?
This Application Lab is best suited for emergency implementers who have (1) a familiarity with targeting and vulnerability guidelines for their activities and (2) have the flexibility to pivot their targeting approaches, whether they are:

Considering and researching how best to update or adapt to targeting criteria and methodology;

In the process of updating their participant targeting; or
-
Have completed participant re-targeting.
Priority will be given to participants who are implementing USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance-funded emergency activities and based in-country.
What is expected of participants?

Be willing and able to attend the three workshops, complete the assigned homework, and productively contribute to the discussions;

Be willing to share learning with their organizations and with the broader emergency food security implementing community;

Have the buy-in and support of their activity teams to represent and share information about their activities with other cohort members; and

Be available three to six months after the culmination of the application lab for a post-adaptation follow-up session.

Complete your application form by COB Thursday, October 29, 2020. Applicants should expect to hear from IDEAL by Thursday, November 5, 2020.
