Stakeholder Consultation Workshop as part of the “Coordination of Assessment for Environment in Humanitarian Action” Initiative

USAID and the Joint UN Environment/OCHA Unit would like to announce the upcoming stakeholder workshop, on October 25-26, 2017,  in Washington DC, as part of the multi-stakeholder initiative for “Coordination of Assessments for Environment in Humanitarian Action”. This initiative is a joint venture between USAID with the UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit, UNHCR, Swedish Civil Defence Organization (MSB), WWF and IUCN. The workshop will bring together a group of environmental and humanitarian stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities around integration of environment in the humanitarian system, with a particular focus on assessments and environmental data and information sharing.

Workshop Objectives:

This Washington DC stakeholder workshop will bring together a group of key environmental and humanitarian stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities around integration of environment in the humanitarian system, with a particular focus on assessments and environmental data and information sharing. Specifically, the workshop will include:

  • Awareness raising of activities in the enviornment and humanitarian space
  • Feedback request on a draft framework for enviornment and humanitarian action
  • Feedback request options for Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA) update
  • Expoloring options for environmental information and data sharing in the humanitarian system and entry points to the humanitarian program cycle
  • Exploring opportunities for strengthening coordination between enviornmental and humanitarian actors
