Interested in a Theory of Change training?

The East and Southern Africa Regional TOPS/FSN Network Knowledge Sharing Meeting will take place in Uganda in September, 2016.  If there is enough interest, we hope to host a Theory of Change (ToC) workshop the week immediately following the event.

Please submit a brief survey by March 22, 2016 so we can determine if there is sufficient demand.

The TOPS ToC training is a 5-day intensive participatory workshop.  Designed to help PVOs align models to USAID office of Food for Peace requirements, the training covers the following topics.

  • Overview of theory of change
  • Using a conceptual framework to inform data collection and analysis
  • Causal analysis and problem trees
  • From problems to solutions to pathways of change
  • Assumptions and risks
  • Prioritizing domains of change
  • Interventions
  • Indicators
  • Using a theory of change

Through short lectures and many breakout sections, participants use actual data sets to develop a ToC for a hypothetical development program. The step-by-step process is rooted in thorough data analysis. The learning objective for the 5-day session is to ensure participants understand how a ToC is used in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development programs.
